WORKS OF POETRY
THE ROSE WITHIN MY HEART
The finest of the most preeminent roses
Thrives within the chambers of my heart.
Positively lovely and superlatively exquisite --
A fragrance only His to impart.
Filling my soul with heavenly spices
And beauty that transcends all splendor
Gracious and refreshing, melodious and pure
Tis' a warming softness, pleasantly remembered.
Gratification blooms in the garden of my rose;
And thrives among the replenished soil therein,
Upheld in majesty, arrayed in glory
Is this Spirit of Jesus, my Lord and friend.
I'll sing sweet melodies as I draw near, for
He is the only rose I shall ever know;
To have His pristine presence within my heart ...
Brings joyous hope and love, O' my soul.
GO FORTH TO MEET HIM
Who maketh us to differ from another?
And what have we that we did not receive?
'Twas it not mightily the hands of a loving Father,
~ Be not troubled, be not deceived!
Let thine heart go forth to meet Him
Love Him with an inner strength;
With all thy soul, rejoice in His sweet love,
And in His righteousness, be thou content.
The Father is glorious in His holy character
Walk humbly before His face;
Give unto Him the honor due His mighty name,
And be ye blessed in His wondrous grace.
WORKS OF PROSE
WE BELONG TO GOD
God establishes every child into Christ Jesus. He anoints them and
seals them; He places into their hearts the earnest of the Holy Spirit ~ they
are guided into all truth. This anointing which they have received of God
abides within them and they need no man's edifying, for they are taught
of the Spirit. They will love righteousness and hate wickedness for they
have been anointed with the oil of gladness -- the Spirit of the Lord God.
The Lord watches over His anointed; He protects them. He hears their
cries from His holy heaven and quickly delivers them, yes, with only the
saving strength of His right hand. No enemy can harm them ~ neither can the
wicked afflict them, for they are God's.
Brothers and sisters, abide in Him. As you do, your confidence and
faith will build. You will become as a fragrant meadow or as a cool stream
flowing with the glistening strength of holiness. And on the day He
appears unto you, as He has promised, you will stand before Him unashamed and
exuberant in joy.
ONE I WALKED IN DARKNESS
(Once I walked in darkness; but I was unaware of the dark. I never
knew the things of light, for I was not of God.)
The darkness was lonely, and it was filled with what seemed to be
lonely roller coasters, carrying and tugging me toward an even greater depth
of darkness. Life was spent as I chose to spend it, and happiness was
never included in the price I paid. Always searching, and never content, I
wandered aimlessly within that darkness ~ forever increasing the murky
shadows therein.
But, praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for my
eyes have seen the salvation of the Lord. I, who sat in darkness and in the
regions and shadows of death, have seen great light, for God has caused
it to spring up unto me. I have known the light which shines upon the
whole world! Jesus Christ ~ the light of men! ~ the only true Light! it is
He Who lighteth every man who comes into this world!
While I have the light, I will walk in the light; I will believe in the
light with all my heart, for He has opened my eyes, and turned me from
darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God. The night is
truly far spent, and the day is at hand: therefore, in Him, I will cast off
the works of darkness, and move further forward ~ dressed in a full armor
of light.
